Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study was to determine the benefits of binaural-bimodal fitting combining a cochlear implant and a contralateral hearing aid in patients with unilateral cochlear implant.Methods Unilaterally cochlear implanted patients with binaural-bimodal fitting(n=54)received pure tone tests in sound field in three modes:CI only,HA only and BIM combining the cochlear implant and a contralateral hearing aid.Speech recognition tests included monosyllabic words,disyllabic words,short sentence recognition rate in quiet and speech recognition in noise.Results There was a significant difference in pure tone average(PTA)between CI mode and BIM mode(P=0.006).Recognition of monosyllabic words,disyllabic words and short sentence in quiet was better in BIM mode than in CI only mode(P<0.01),with less loss of signal-to-noise ratio(P<0.01).Conclusion Binaural-bimodal fitting has certain advantages in auditory and speech recognition ability in patients with unilateral cochlear implant.关键词
