Suitable Mechanical Transplanting Densities of Female Parents with Different Characteristics in Hybrid Rice Seed Production

Abstract
Four mechanical transplanting densities were designed for female parents with different plant type and tillering and panicle formation characteristics in hybrid rice seed production.The effects of different mechanical transplanting densities were studied on the growth characteristics,tillering dynamics,maximum seedling number,grain number per panicle,outcrossing rate,yield and seed quality of female parents.The results showed that mechanical transplanting densities had mild effects on the duration from sowing to heading,outcrossing rate and germination potential and germination rate of hybrid seeds,while they had significant effects on the heading duration,maximum tiller number,grain number per panicle,panicle formation rate,diseased grain rate and yield.Therefore,appropriate machine transplanting densities should be selected for the female parents with different plant type and tillering and panicle formation characteristics.The female parents such as Quan 9311A with moderate plant type,medium tillering and panicle formation rates,sparse mechanical transplanting at 20.0 cm×21.0 cm(A4)was suitable,which can reduce the amount of seed and the cost of seedling raising.The medium mechanical transplanting density of 20.0 cm× 15.0 cm(A2)was suitable for the female parents such as Li 68S with relatively-scattered plant type,strong tillering and medium panicle formation rates.The female parents such as 955S with compact plant type,weak tillering and high panicle formation rates,dense mechanical transplanting at 20.0 cm× 13.0 cm(A1)was suitable.关键词
