Effects of Different Seeding Rates and Bud Lengths on Seedling Quality of Machine-transplanted Rice Under the Mode of Tray-overlay Germination Seeding Raising

Abstract
This study aims to explore the effects of different seeding rates and bud lengths on the seedling quality of machine-transplanted rice under the mode of tray-overlay germination seeding raising.Two rice varieties,Zhongzheyou 1 and Yongyou 1540,were used in the experiment.The experiment was designed with two seeding rates:1 500 seeds/tray(S1)and 3 000 seeds/tray(S2),as well as four tray-overlay germination bud lengths:1.0 cm(T1),1.5 cm(T2),2.5 cm(T3),and 3.5 cm(T4),with a total of eight treatments.The effects of different treatments on seedling traits were systematically compared in terms of endosperm dry matter,length from stem base to first leaf collar,leaf age,stem base width,seedling height,above-ground dry matter,seedling filling degree,and growth uniformity.The results indicated that under different bud length treatments,the length from stem base to first leaf collar of both varieties and seeding rates followed the trend of T4>T3>T2>T1.The endosperm dry matter on the third day after seeding,leaf age,stem base width,seedling height,and growth uniformity were in the order of T1>T2>T3>T4.The trend for above-ground dry matter and seedling filling degree was T2>T1>T3>T4.Twenty days after seeding,seedlings of the S1 treatment exhibited greater leaf age,stem base width,seedling height,above-ground dry matter,seedling filling degree,and growth uniformity than those of the S2 treatment under the same bud length treatments.The results suggest that the optimal seeding rate for tray-overlay germination of machine-transplanted rice is 1 500 seeds/tray,with trays being placed on seedling beds when the seedling buds reach 1.0~1.5 cm in length,under which the seedling quality is the best.关键词
