Abstract
Under a constant cross-sectional area condition,several novel twisted tubes with regular polygonal cross-sections are proposed.The effects of Reynolds number,cross-sectional shape,and torque on their heat transfer and flow characteristics are numerically investigated.Based on the calculated results,heat transfer and resistance correlation formulas for twisted tubes are obtained.The results show that the highest Nusselt number is achieved by the regular hexagonal twisted tube,which averages over 200%of that of the equilateral triangular twisted tube.The friction coefficient is approximately 70%of that of the equilateral triangular twisted tube.For regular hexagonal twisted tubes with varying torques,within the studied size range,the twisted tube with a torque of 250 mm is found to exhibit the highest performance evaluation criterion(3.6-5.1),5%and 12%higher than those with torques of 200 mm and 150 mm,respectively,indicating the best overall performance.关键词
