A review of the selective flocculation of gangue minerals to reduce froth entrainment in flotation

摘要

Abstract

In the process of mineral flotation,micro-fine hydrophilic gangue minerals are recovered by slime coating,froth entrainment,and mechanical entrapment,which cause serious contamination to the flotation concentrate.In the flotation process,the application of selective flocculation technology can improve the separation efficiency of valuable minerals.The addition of flocculants to the dispersed pulp can increase the particle size of valuable minerals,increase the bubble-particle collision probability,and improve the recovery of concentrate by the selective adsorption of flocculants on the surface of valuable minerals through different mechanisms such as charge neutralization,adsorption bridging,and precipitation enmeshment.However,the froth entrainment of dispersed fine hydrophilic gangue minerals is still inevitable.The entrainment behavior of gangue seriously contaminates the grade of the concentrate and influences the flotation efficiency.Therefore,the selective flocculation of gangue minerals is an effective solution to inhibit gangue contamination.For this reason,the current research on froth entrainment of gangue minerals was summarized,the category and interaction mechanism of selective flocculants was analyzed,and the application of selective flocculation of gangue minerals in recent years was demonstrated.The future development direction of the selective flocculation of gangue minerals was also pointed out.
