Research on batch embryo transfer technology for Charollais sheep throughout the year

Abstract
To address issues in sheep embryo transfer such as FSH dosage regulation,nutritional supplement application,and environmental stress management,80 multiparous adult ewes were divided into groups for trials.A gradient comparison was set between 500 IU/15 mL FSH in the non-breeding season(March)and 375 IU/15 mL in the breeding season(October),combined with cross-tests of VADE injection frequency and CIDR insertion times to screen the optimal protocol.Results indicated that in the non-breeding season,diluting 500 IU FSH with 15 mL normal saline and administering it via a decreasing-dose regimen(2.8 mL,1.9 mL,1.5 mL,1.3 mL daily)alongside VADE injections(3 mL each at CIDR insertion and removal)achieved 9.7±0.5 embryos per ewe with a 97.9%usable embryo rate,significantly outperforming the 20 mL dilution group(P<0.05).In the breeding season,reducing FSH to 15 mL(375 IU)increased embryo yield to 13.1±0.5 per ewe with a 79.70%pregnancy rate,reducing costs by 25%compared to the high-dose non-breeding season group while yielding better outcomes.Reinserting a CIDR 72 hours post-insemination stabilised the usable embryo rate.Over the year,252 donor ewes produced 2,970 embryos(2,880 usable,97.0%usability)with an overall pregnancy rate of 69.08%.This protocol,integrating season-specific FSH dosages with nutritional and stress management,established that 500 IU FSH plus dual VADE injections in the non-breeding season and 375 IU FSH plus CIDR reinsertion in the breeding season constitute the optimal combination for year-round efficient multiplication of Charollais sheep,demonstrating significant improvements in embryo yield,pregnancy rates,and economic viability for industry adoption.关键词
