Abstract

Aluminum powder is one of the most commonly used metal fuels in explosive industry(including explosives and pro-pellants),but its incomplete combustion is a difficult problem to be solved.The research progress of inorganic fluorine-containing materials(metal fluoride,graphite fluoride and graphene-based fluoride,etc.),organic fluorine-containing materials(fluorine-con-taining organic small molecules,fluorine-containing polymers),self-assembled fluorine-containing materials combustion-supporting aluminum powder and its combustion-supporting mechanism were reviewed.The results show that inorganic fluorine-containing mate-rials,organic fluorine-containing materials and self-assembled fluorine-containing materials can all produce fluorine atoms,fluorine-containing small molecules or fluorine-containing organic debris free radicals when they are decomposed by heat,and these reaction products react with aluminum to generate aluminum fluoride,aluminum fluoride can be decomposed again to generate fluorine atoms,which react with aluminum again.Therefore,the fluorine in fluorine-containing materials plays a catalytic role,rather than merely participating in a redox reaction.In order to optimize fluorine-containing compounds for different application scenarios,it is necessary to further study the thermodynamics and kinetics of the thermal decomposition process of fluorine-containing compounds and the ki-netics of the reaction between fluorine-containing ions or free radicals and aluminum powder with different particle sizes,design the gradation and preparation process of fluorine-containing compounds and aluminum powder to maximize the application of potential of such materials.
