摘要

Abstract

The development of single crystal structural analysis software has provided great convenience for solution,refinement,and validation of crystal structures,enabling researchers who are not formally trained in crystallography to determine crystal structures easily from single crystal diffraction data.However,ignoring the accumulation and application of knowledge in chemistry and crystallography,over-depending on software may lead to structural errors.Such a problem has been noted in the course,and in this paper,taking the analysis of the single crystal structure of benzyl triphenyl phosphonium pentachloroantimonate as an example,the significance of basic chemical and crystallographic knowledge in analyzing crystal structures was demonstrated through the process of structure determination of pentachoroantimonate(Ⅲ)polyhedral anion.After comparing with literature results,it was found that over-reliance on software outputs is not uncommon,which deserves appropriate attention in educating students on crystal structure analysis.It should also be emphasized on the accumulation of basic knowledge and theories,and cultivating rigorous and serious scientific literacy.
