Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Based on Gallbladder-Qi Theory Proposed in Huang Di Nei Jing

Abstract
Based on the theory of"gallbladder Qi"first proposed in Huang Di Nei Jing,this paper systematically combines ancient and modern literature with contemporary medical research,proposing that"disharmony between the Gallbladder and Intestine"is the core pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),emphasizing that gallbladder dysfunction plays a key role in its onset and progres-sion.From a physiological perspective,the Gallbladder belongs to Shaoyang and governs pivotal mechanism,functioning in controling de-cision-making,serving as the origin of Yang Qi,assisting the Spleen and Stomach in transportation and transformation as well as regu-lating emotions and coordinating the flow of Qi between the interior and exterior.From a pathological perspective,failure of Gallbladder Qi ascending can lead to inadequate distribution of vital essence,imbalance of Qi,emotional instability,and weak defense against exter-nal Evil Factors,thereby triggering or exacerbating various symptoms of IBD.Abnormal rising of Gallbladder Qi not only acts as an ini-tial cause but also dominates the dynamic evolution of pathogenesis and symptom transformation.In clinical treatment the general princi-ple of pivoting Shaoyang should be followed,including five aspects:ascending Gallbladder Qi and soothing the Liver Qi,clearing the Gallbladder and resolving Turbidity,regulating Gallbladder and harmonizing the Middle Jiao,strengthening the Gallbladder and calming the spirit as well as tonifying the Gallbladder and warming the Kidney.By regulating the Gallbladder,the intestines can be stabilized and the Zang and Fu can be harmonized to improve overall bodily function,comprehensively restoring the transformation of the Qi of Three Jiao as well as the balance of Yin and Yang.关键词
