Abstract

In order to explore the dynamic response of buried slope pipelines under the impact of falling objects in cold regions,a nonlinear dynamic model was developed using an explicit dynamic analysis method.This model accounts for the nonlinear contact between falling objects and frozen soil,as well as between frozen soil and the pipeline,along with the material nonlinearities of the pipeline and frozen-soil.The effects of falling object characteristics,including the impacts of shape,impact position,impact energy,and frozen-soil moisture content on the dynamic response behavior of the pipeline were discussed.The results show that the residual stress and deformation of the pipeline are the largest when the falling object is spherical among different-shaped falling objects.With the change in distance between the impact position of the falling object and the bottom of the slope,the maximum residual stress of the pipeline decreases first and then increases.When this distance reaches 2 m,the condition of a falling object impacting the pipeline along a slope can be regarded as the problem of a pipeline in an impact-flat area.With the increase in the impact energy of the falling material,the maximum residual stress and deformation of the pipeline tend to increase.Specifically,the residual stress increases from 9.98 MPa to 51.4 MPa,approximately 5 times the initial value.The residual stress and deformation showed an increasing trend with the boost of frozen-soil moisture content.Specifically,the residual stress increased from 26.2 MPa to 40.9 MPa,an increase of about 56%.However,the frozen-soil moisture content has little effect on the cross-section deformation at the pipeline impact point.
