Preparation of Sm-TiO2∕g-C3N5 composites and study on their photocatalytic degradation performance for MB and RhB

Abstract
Currently,environmental pollution is still one of the important issues faced by the world,and the harm of organic dye wastewater to water pollution is becoming increasingly severe,and urgently needs to be addressed.Therefore,the development of methods for treating water pollution with high efficiency and low energy consumption has increasingly attracted the attention and emphasis of society.In this study,Sm-TiO2∕g-C3N5 composite photocatalytic material was synthesized using samarium(Sm)doped titanium dioxide(TiO2)and g-C3N5 composite by hydrothermal and calcination,and methylene blue(MB)and Rhodamine B(RhB)were used as dye pollution sources.The structure of the samples was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and ultraviolet visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-Vis DRS).The results showed that due to the coupling effect between Sm-TiO2 and g-C3N5,the separation of photogenerated electron holes was accelerated,the light absorption range was expanded,and the photocatalytic activity of the composite was enhanced.The Sm-TiO2∕g-C3N5 composite exhibited the optimal photocatalytic performance when the mass ratio of Sm-TiO2 to g-C3N5 was maintained at 1∶3.Under the irradiation of a 500 W Xe lamp,the degradation rates of MB and RhB by the composites achieved 95.2%and 91.3%after 105 min photoreaction,which were 2.1-and 1.8-fold higher than those of pure TiO2,respectively.After five cycle tests,the degradation rates of MB and RhB by the composites were still both over 80%,demonstrating robust stability and photocatalytic performance.关键词
