Abstract

The outage performance for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface(RIS)-aided multi-cell Vehicle-to-Infrastructure(V2I)communication systems is systematically analyzed and optimized.The closed-form Outage Probability(OP)expression for Nakagami-m-fading V2I links is derived by modeling signal and interference distributions via the moment-matching technique.The expression reveals an important principle:as the number of RIS reflecting elements increases,the signal power grows significantly greater than the inter-cell interference power.To further optimize the outage performance of RIS-aided V2I communications,a centralized Deep Reinforcement Learning(DRL)-based power control approach is proposed.The proposed solution employs the Proximal Policy Optimization(PPO)algorithm to achieve the optimization objective of minimizing the average outage probability of V2I links through real-time dynamic adjustment of the Roadside Unit(RSU)transmission power.Simulations verify the theoretical derivations,and demonstrate that RIS deployment combined with optimized power control substantially improves the reliability of V2I networks.
