Abstract

To investigate the causes of water hazards induced by coal mining disturbance in Yuhengbei Mining Area,a detailed analysis has been made of water inflow patterns during shaft construction,road-way development,and panel mining based on the hydrogeological conditions of the water-bearing coal seams and their roof strata.The findings revealed that:The local absence of strata in the fourth member of the Yan'an Formation and the well-developed fractures in No.2 coal seam have created an aquifer with substantial static reserves.During the shaft construction stage,the freezing method is adopted to block the hydraulic connections between the aquifer and shafts,resulting in zero water inflow.Drainage and depressurization formed a cone of depression in main aquifers,with shaft inflow primarily from dy-namic aquifer recharge,showing steady increase.During the second phase construction stage of the coal mine,the initial exposure of No.2 coal seam aquifer caused abrupt water inflow surges due to fracture development and large static reserves.Pre-drainage depressurization of No.2 coal seam aquifer estab-lished a cone of depression around shaft stations,preventing sudden inflow increases.During panel min-ing,the relatively high water yield of direct roof aquifers caused continuous inflow growth with expan-ding goaf areas.Advance drainage of panel roof water combined with adequate drainage capacity en-sured safe mining operations.The construction and coal mining operations in the Yuhengbei Mining Ar-ea are primarily threatened by water-rich coal seams and water-bearing roof strata.Studying the hydro-geological characteristics and water inflow patterns under various control measures provides a scientific guidance for the water hazard prevention during coal seam mining in Yuhengbei Mining Area.
