Validation and Assessment of Artificial Rainfall Enhancement Effects in Shiyang River Basin using Google Earth Engine Data

Abstract
By combining the assessment of cloud seeding operations with the long time series of remote sensing data,the rainfall in the Shiyang River Basin from 2010 to 2020 was analyzed to assess the effect of increased operation sites and seeding efforts.At the same time,a pixel dichotomy model was established based on the long-time series Landsat remote sensing data of the Google Earth Engine platform(GEE)to quantitatively analyze the Fraction of Vegetation Cover(FVC)and its spatial and temporal dynamic changes in Shiyang River Basin before and after the artificial rain enhancement.The results showed that the average relative artificial rain enhancement effect in the operation area was 20.8%(p<0.001).During 2010-2020,1 017.56 km2 of sandy/bare land was converted into grassland.Under the combined effect of artificial rain and natural precipitation,the vegetation cover area of the Shiyang River Basin increased from 20.2%before rainfall enhancement to 27.24%afterward,and the change of improvement in ecological condition was significant.关键词
