Abstract

Objective To evaluate the correlation between axial length(AL),subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT),and the width ratio of the parapapillary atrophy to optic disc(A/D)with the degrees of myopia in children and ad-olescents,based on both eyes.Methods A total of 260 myopic patients who attended the People's Hospital of Shapingba District in Chongqing from January to July 2024 were included in the study,and the left and right eye data were statistically ana-lyzed.According to different degrees of myopia,they were divided into three groups of emmetropia,low,medium and high myo-pia.The differences in demographic indicators and examination indicators of each group were compared.The differences in demo-graphic and examination indicators were compared across these groups.Then Logistic regression was used to further assess the im-pact of the indicators,and finally the ROC curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic effect of the indicators and models.Results Analyses of both eyes revealed no statistically significant differences in gender composition among the groups(P>0.05).However,age,AL,SFCT,and the width ratio of the parapapillary atrophy to optic disc showed statistically significant differ-ences(P<0.05).Logistic regression indicated that adolescents aged 8 years and older had a higher risk of myopia(P<0.05);moreover,as AL and the width ratio of the parapapillary atrophy to optic disc increased,the severity of myopia also intensified(P<0.05),while the thicker the SFCT,the smaller the myopia risk(P<0.05).The combined model of age,AL,SFCT,and the width ratio of the parapapillary atrophy to optic disc demonstrated the highest ROC values(right eye ROC=0.887,left eye ROC=0.905).Conclusion Age,AL,SFCT,and the width ratio of the parapapillary atrophy to optic disc are closely related to myopia and serve as valuable indicators for the joint diagnosis and detection of myopia in children and adolescents.
