Abstract
Objective To describe distributions of refraction and ocular biometric parameters as effective tools to estimate low hyperopia reserve.Methods Cross-sectional study.A total of 5205 children aged 7 to 12 years participated in the study.Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),noncycloplegic autorefraction(NCAR),spherical equivalent refraction(SE)using cycloplegic retinoscopy were performed.Ocular biometrics including axial length(AL),corneal radius of cur-vature(CRC),anterior chamber depth,Central corneal thickness(CCT)were measured by AL-scan.The lens power(LP)was calculated using the Bennett-Rabbetts formula.Results Mean SE was-0.06±1.57 D.1545(29.7％)were myopic.The median SE of children from 7 to 12-year-old was+1.00 D,+0.75 D,+0.50 D,+0.25 D,0.00 D,and-0.25 D,respectively.Children aged 7 years with NCAR≤-0.25D or AL/CR ≥2.939 or AL≥23.14mm were considered as low hyperopia reserve.Children aged 8 years with NCAR≤-0.38D or AL/CR ≥ 2.964 or AL≥ 23.31mm as low hypero-pia reserve.LP and CR were low correlated with SE.For the convenience of clinical assessment,the most important ocular biometrics related to hyperopia reserve were NCAR,AL/CR and AL.Conclusions SE≥+1.50D accounted for only 25％in 7-year-old children.NCAR,Al/CR and AL quartile scales can be used to evaluate hyperopia reserve in children of dif-ferent ages.关键词
