Abstract

Objective The relative peripheral refractive error(RPRE)of different retinal regions in children with unilateral myopic anisometropia was measured by using multispectral retinal refractive topography,and to explore the corre-lation between RPRE and myopia development.Methods In this cases control study,302 unilateral myopicanisometropia children(604 eyes)aged 7 to 18 years were recruited and were divided into emmetropia group(n=302)and myopia group(n=302)according to the refractive status.MRT was used to measure the RPRE in different areas of the retina in both eyes,including TRVD,temporal and four regions with eccentricity 0~15°,15°~30°,30°~45°;Retina relative refractive errors of four quadrants(RPRE-S,RPRE-I,RPRE-N,RPRE-T).Results The difference of SE and AL in both eyes was statistically significant(P<0.05),there were no significant differences in CCT,Smi-K and IOP between the two eyes.There were statistically significant differences at eccentricities of 15°~45° and superior,nasal and temperior quadrants between the two eyes(P<0.05).When eccentricity was 15°~45°,D-RPRE was negatively correlated with D-SE,and positively correlated with D-AL.When eccentricity was 0~15°,D-RPRE had no correlation with D-SE and D-AL.When eccentricity was 15°~45°,RPRE was negatively correlated with SE,and positively correlated with AL.When eccentricity was 0~15°,RPRE had no correlation with SE and AL.Conclusions The development of myopia in children with unilateral myopic anisometropia may be related to RPRE.Moreover,within the eccentricity range of 15°~45°,the difference in defocus between the two eyes may be one of the factors leading to the unequal development of myopia in both eyes of children with unilateral myopic anisometropia.
