Abstract
The Three yin and Three yang(Sanyin Sanyang)described by ZHANG Zhongjing can be under-stood as six hierarchical layers of the human body from the exterior to the interior.Taiyang disease refers to pathological changes in the outermost layer,encompassing the skin,interstices(Couli),muscles,and the in-ternal organs and pathways that influence their physiological functions.YE Tianshi's Wei-Qi-Ying-Xue(Defensive-Qi-Nutrient-Blood)pattern differentiation shares common ground with the Six Meridians(Liujing)pattern differentiation in Shanghan Lun.For instance,the statement"warm pathogens entering from the upper body first attack the lung"can be classified within the Taiyang level of external contraction through the mouth and nose."The lung governs qi and is associated with Wei(Defensive qi)"implies both the diffusion of Weiqi from the upper jiao(lung)to the skin and its exhalation through the mouth and nose,as well as its generation and dispersion from the lower jiao(bladder)."The heart governs blood and is associated with Ying(Nutrient Qi)"illustrates the connection and distinction between blood and Yingqi,while the blood level pattern of"re-verse transmission to the pericardium"resembles Taiyang disease syndromes such as chest-binding syndrome and heat entering the blood chamber.Although the treatment strategies for warm disease and cold damage dif-fer,their core principle remains the same:preserving Yangqi and retaining body fluids.By interpreting the Tai-yang disease through the lens of Wei-Qi-Ying-Xue pattern differentiation,it can be further classified into sub-types such as Taiyang Wei-level qi deficiency syndrome,Taiyang Qi-level water retention syndrome,Taiyang Wei-cold with qi-heat syndrome,and Taiyang-Yangming combined disease with Qi-level and Ying-level heat syndrome.Two case examples are appended for validation.关键词
