Abstract

To investigate the influence of fuel level on the heat release rate of pool fires,gasoline pool fire experiments were systematically conducted under various fuel load conditions.It was found that within the liquid level range of 2 to 20 mm,both the peak and average values of the heat release rate of the pool showed a non-monotonic variation trend,initially decreasing and then increasing.Based on the coupling effect of the multi-component fractionation characteristics of fuel and the thermal boundary conditions,the influence mechanism of different liquid level heights on the heat release rate was revealed.Combined with the thermal radiation time-se-ries curve to analyze the entire combustion process,the reliability of the mechanism was verified.By fitting the experimental data,a predictive model integrating oil pan scale and liquid level height was developed for both peak and average heat release rates.This model can be applied to dynamically predict thermal safety distances,enhancing the scientific nature of emergency response to accidents.
