Road manhole cover defect detection based on vehicle-mounted laser point clouds

Abstract
To address the deficiencies of traditional road measurement techniques in terms of efficiency,safety performance,and response speed in obtaining information on manhole cover defects,this paper proposed a manhole cover defect detection method based on vehicle-mounted laser point clouds.This method utilized the distribution characteristics and reflection prop-erties of manhole covers on the road.Firstly,it employed the gradient and cloth simulation filter(CSF)algorithm to obtain ground point cloud data and form an intensity image.Subsequently,this image underwent binarization processing,combined with a parameter-constrained Hough circle detection algorithm,to achieve manhole cover location recognition.At the same time,by calculating the average height difference between the center of the manhole cover and its surrounding point clouds,effective monitoring of the settlement information of the manhole cover was achieved.Field verification on a road in Nanchang City demonstrates that the method proposed in this paper exhibits high accuracy and direct acquisition capabilities for manhole cover locations and defect information,with an extraction accuracy rate of 84%and a precision rate of 98%.Compared to tra-ditional measurement methods,it has significant advantages in terms of extraction efficiency and operational safety.关键词
