Evaluation of groundwater resources in Beijing based on stratification and zoning

Abstract
As an important component of Beijing's water supply system,the accurate assessment of groundwater resources quantity constitutes a crucial foundation for the sustainable utilization of groundwater resources.To meet the current demand for refined groundwater management,a method combining traditional groundwater resources quantity calculation and numerical simulation was adopted to conduct zonal evaluation,layered evaluation,and layered-zonal evaluation of Beijing's groundwater resources quantity from 2017 to 2022.The results showed that:From 2017 to 2022,the annual average groundwater resources quantity of the whole city was 2.898 billion cubic meters.Compared with the periods of 1956-1979,1980-2000 and 2001-2016,the annual average groundwater resources quantity increased by 10.8%,13.2%and 34.0%respectively.The distribution of groundwater resources quantity across the city exhibited significant spatial variability.Among administrative divisions,the minimum groundwater resources quantity was less than 10%of the maximum,while among basin divisions,the minimum groundwater resources quantity was only 27%of the maximum.The quaternary groundwater resources in the plain area showed distinct vertical differentiation characteristics,with the groundwater resources quantity decreasing significantly as the depth of management layers increased.The proportions of groundwater resources quantity in the first,second,and third management layers were 90.6%,8.7%,and 0.7%respectively.The research results provide more accurate data support for the refined management of groundwater.关键词
