摘要

Abstract

In order to solve the problem of frequent failures of the EM surge arresters with a voltage level of±800 kV in UHV DC converter stations,it is necessary to systematically analyze the key performance of EM surge arresters and identify the weak points in their performance,as well as provide performance optimization suggestions.Based on the failure situation of the EM surge arresters at Shanbei Station,the author conducts an experimental analysis of the sealing performance,insulation withstand performance,energy withstand performance,high current impulse withstand performance,and current distribution per-formance of the EM surge arresters by disassembling faulty components and setting up a control group.The experiment found that the energy absorption capacity of the single-piece resistor met the technical specifications and had a certain margin,but the internal temperature of the element increased significant-ly after absorbing energy.The side insulation performance of the resistors in high temperature decreased,and finally developed into a flashover damage that penetrated the element.It is suggested that the EM surge arrester element adopt a solid structure with a single column in a single housing to replace the origi-nal four-column parallel structure with an empty cavity,which is beneficial to optimizing the insulation withstand performance of the element.Under the condition of meet the energy withstand requirements,it is suggested to cancel the standby element and reduce the probability of unnecessary"short pieces"exist-ing,it is suggested to use an inorganic high-resistance layer combined with glass glaze fired onto the side of the metal oxide substrate as the insulation layer to replace the original organic glaze insulation lay-er,in order to improve the impulse withstand performance of the column side insulation of the resistor el-ement in high temperature.
