Abstract
Large tonnage insulators of 420 kN and above are commonly used in ultra-high voltage(UHV)AC/DC overhead transmission lines.The power department attaches great importance to the safe operation and maintenance of large tonnage insulators.11 pieces of the large tonnage zero-resistance porcelain insulators collected in a±1 100 kV UHVDC transmission line in north China are dissected and analyzed.Mechanical performance test,electromechanical performance test,thermal-mechanical per-formance test,and porcelain composition analysis using scanning electron microscope(SEM)were con-ducted on these insulators.Based on the test results,the failure characteristics of zero-resistance porce-lain insulators in terms of microstructure,mechanical and electrical performance were analyzed.In addi-tion,theoretical analysis was conducted on the causes of aging and deterioration of porcelain insulators,and the operational risks of these insulators were evaluated.Suggestions for improving the performance of porcelain insulators were proposed.The study can provide reference for the development and maintenance of large tonnage porcelain insulators for UHV transmission lines.关键词
