Abstract

[Objective]To evaluate fruit trait variations in Luffa acutangula germplasm and identify elite accessions for breeding high-yield,high-quality varieties.[Method]Fourteen fruit traits(8 qualitative,6 quantitative)were measured across 30 accessions.Correlation and principal component analysis(PCA)were applied for evaluation.[Result]Qualitative traits showed genetic diversity indices of 0.254~1.210,while quantitative traits had coefficients of variation of 5.09%~25.82%.The eight qualitative traits are predominantly controlled by genetic factors,exhibiting an average broad-sense heritability of 83.54%.In contrast,the six quantitative traits show a lower average broad-sense heritability of 71.59%,indicating that their expression is considerably influenced by environmental conditions.Fruit length positively correlated with young fruit weight and peduncle length but negatively with ridge number and waxiness.Young fruit weight positively correlated with length and width but negatively with ridge number.PCA identified five principal components(cumulative variance contribution rate:75.667%),representing appearance,size,weight,morphology,and ridge characteristics.Ten elite accessions,including 'Taiyou 8'(GGD-5),'Jiannan Huadian Darou'(GGD-4)and 'Chunruyi'(GFJ-3),were selected.[Conclusion]PCA effectively evaluates Luffa acutangula fruit traits.The selected germplasms are valuable parental materials for breeding.
