Abstract

To breed new cultivars of Dendrobium devonianum with high quality,high yield,and strong stress resistance,break through the dilemma of raw material price competition caused by variety homogenization,and promote the sustainable development of the Den-drobium industry in Yunnan,this study screened elite individual plants with remarkable novelty and distinctness from cultivated fields in Longling County.After stem cutting propagation,field DUS(Distinctness,Uniformity,and Stability)testing and evaluation were conducted for clonal lines.Five new D.devonianum cultivars with excellent economic traits,obvious novelty and distinctness(easily identifiable),high uniformity and good stability were selected and bred:'Jiejiegao'with a polysaccharide content of 66.3%,ex-tremely late flowering(blooming in June),and a low crude fiber content of 7.4%;'Longlü'with a fresh stem yield of 3.9 kg·m-2,flat and large leaves(leaf area up to 47.3 cm2),and thick stems(diameter up to 1.38 cm);'Liangjie'with short sheaths ex-posing nodes;'Hongtou'with purplish-red sheaths on the upper stem segments;'Ziyi'with purplish-red sheaths on the lower stem segments.These five clones were authorized as new horticultural plant cultivars by the Yunnan Forestry and Grassland Bureau in February and June 2025,respectively,and have been promoted and applied in Longling County.
