Abstract

In order to formulate reasonable improvement measures for saline-alkali soil and improve cotton yield and water use efficiency,two drip irrigation methods were set up:unaerated conventional drip irrigation(A0)and aerated drip irrigation(A1),and four biochar application rates:0,12,24,and 36 t·hm-2(B0,B12,B24,and B36).The effects of aerated drip irrigation and biochar on the physical and chemical properties of saline-alkali soil and cotton yield were studied.The results showed that with the increase of biochar dosage,the soil bulk density decreased gradually,which was 8.63%lower than that of the B0 treatment.The soil porosity,pH value,and salt content increased gradually,with an increase of 12.57%,2.62%,and 11.72%,respectively.The soil water content increased first and then decreased,and the increase of the B24 treatment was the largest,reaching 19.24%.Compared with the A0 treatment,the soil bulk density,water content,pH value,and salt content of the A1 treat-ment decreased by 4.71%,9.27%,0.82%,and 4.65%,respectively,and the soil porosity increased by 6.19%on average.Under the combined action of aerated drip irrigation and biochar,the cotton yield increased by 17.17%on average,and the water use efficiency increased by 13.55%on average.
