Effect of 5S health education on knowledge level and coping styles in plaque psoriasis patients receiving narrowband ultraviolet B therapy

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of 5S health education on knowledge level and coping styles in plaque psoriasis(PP)patients treated with narrowband ultraviolet B(UVB),with the aim of providing a clinical reference.Methods From January 2021 to December 2023,116 PP patients receiving narrowband UVB treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University were enrolled.Patients were allocated to a study group(n=58)and a control group(n=58)using a random number table.The control group received routine health education and nursing interventions;the study group received 5S health education in addition to routine care.Pre-and post-intervention comparisons were made for scores on a knowledge questionnaire,Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI),Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS).Results Before interven-tion,there were no significant differences between groups in awareness rates of main symptoms,prognosis,treatment meth-ods,and timing(P＞0.05).After intervention,awareness rates of main symptoms,prognosis,treatment methods,and tim-ing were higher than before in both groups,and the study group's rates were higher than those of the control group,with sta-tistically significant differences(P＜0.05).Before intervention,DLQI and PASI scores did not differ significantly between the two groups(P＞0.05);after intervention,DLQI and PASI scores decreased in both groups compared with baseline,and the decreases were greater in the study group than in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).Before intervention,there were no significant differences between groups in SCSQ positive-or negative-coping scores(P＞0.05);af-ter intervention,positive-coping scores increased and negative-coping scores decreased significantly in both groups compared with baseline,with the study group showing significantly greater improvement than the control group(P＜0.05).Similarly,SAS and SDS scores did not differ between groups before intervention(P＞0.05),but both scores decreased after intervention in both groups and were significantly lower in the study group than in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion 5S health ed-ucation significantly promotes knowledge and treatment outcomes in patients with PP receiving narrowband UVB therapy,pro-motes adoption of active coping attitudes toward recovery,and markedly improves patients' emotional status and quality of life,holding promise for broader clinical application.关键词
