Abstract

Dielectric polymers used for electrostatic energy storage suffer from low energy storage density and poor discharge efficiency at high operating temperature,which limits their applications in electronic equipment and systems.The energy storage properties of dielectric polymers can be significantly improved by introducing deep trap energy levels into polymer matrix and constructing multi-layer structure by doping nano-fillers.In this paper,organometallic complexes of nano-fillers with high electron affinity molecular semiconductors were synthesized.Using 3,5-ditertbutyl-2-hydroxybenzoic acid as the raw material and deionized water as the initiator,the novel mental complex of{[Zn(3,5-thbzc)2(H2O)2]·C3H7NO·2H2O}n(where t=tbutyl,hbzc=2-hydroxybenzoato)(complex 1)was synthesized under standard temperature and pressure conditions.The structure and morphology of the complex were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffractometer(SC-XRD)and X-ray powder diffraction(XRPD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR)and simultaneous thermal analyzer(STA).The dielectric constant of the complex with temperature was measured at different frequencies.The results show that complex 1 adopts a monodentate four-coordination mode.SEM clearly shows that complex 1 exists in the form of irregular nanowire clusters.The band gap of complex 1 was calculated by UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy.It is proved that complex 1 is a wide band gap semiconductor with a band gap of 3.28 eV.The results of dielectric studies show that complex 1 exhibits a high dielectric constant at room temperature(κ=8.00 at 1 kHz).Adding a small amount of 5.0%complex 1 to PVDF matrix increases the dielectric constant to 19.73 at 1 kHz,which is about 1.8 times higher than that of pure PVDF at room temperature(κ=11.01 at 1 kHz).Therefore,this metal-organic complex demonstrates significant potential as an organic nanofiller for enhancing the dielectric performance of dielectric polymers.
