Abstract

To reveal the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics of drought stress during the entire growth period of sugarcane,and provide theoretical support and technical pathways for optimizing the regional sugarcane planting structure and formulating differentiated drought resistance plans,this study constructed a dynamic drought assessment model based on the crop water deficit index(CWDI).By integrating local sugar industry observation data and sugarcane physiological cycle parameters,the characteristics of the water deficit index during key phenological stages such as the seedling stage,tillering stage,elongation stage and maturity stage of sugarcane were quantitatively analyzed,and drought risk levels were classified.Finally,a precise irrigation decision-making system based on crop water demand rules was constructed.Taking the sugarcane planting area in Guigang City,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the research object,and based on the daily meteorological observation series(parameters including maximum/minimum/average temperature,sunshine duration,relative humidity,precipitation,and wind speed)from 3 meteorological stations in Guigang City spanning 1972 to 2024,this study systematically analyzed the spatiotemporal distribution pattern of drought during the whole growth season of sugarcane by comprehensively appling trend diagnosis model,the Penman potential evapotranspiration algorithm,and dynamic assessment system for crop water.By examining the dynamic relationship between internal water supply and consumption,this study reveals the phased impacts of drought stress during key phenological stages.It clarifies the nonlinear impact mechanism of the synergistic effect between precipitation deficit and other meteorological factors on sugarcane biomass accumulation under different climate types,thereby providing a quantitative basis for constructing drought risk assessment models and adaptive planting systems.The results show that there is significant regional homogeneity in precipitation,potential evapotranspiration,and water deficit during the sugarcane growing season in Guigang City.Based on CWDI analysis,from September to November,the imbalance between water supply and demand intensifies,drought stress increases,and the contradiction between regional water resource supply and demand becomes prominent.The tillering and elongation stages of sugarcane are basically in a state of water surplus,while the seedling and mature stages present systematic drought risks.The probability of drought events in the mature stage reaches 77.4%,and extreme drought events account for 47.2%.This study reveals the regional water supply and demand contradiction during the sugarcane growing season in Guigang City,providing a reference for the formulation of phased drought resistance management strategies for sugarcane production.
