摘要

Abstract

Sugarcane by-products represent major waste streams in the sugar industry and have long been underutilized,resulting in significant resource waste.In recent years,the extraction of functional sugars from these by-products has gained increasing research attention as a pathway to high-value utilization.Functional sugars not only provide basic nutritional benefits akin to conventional sugars but also exhibit various physiological activities,such as regulating intestinal flora,enhancing immunity,offering antioxidant effects,and providing anti-diabetic properties.They show broad application potential in sectors including health foods,pharmaceuticals,and animal feed.This study provides a systematic review of the main types of functional sugars derived from sugarcane by-products,primarily bagasse,molasses,leaves,and tops,such as functional oligosaccharides(xylooligosaccharides and fructooligosaccharides,etc.),functional polysaccharides,and sugar alcohols(xylitol and sorbitol,etc.).It also details extraction methods including physical,chemical,bio-enzymatic,and combined processes.Furthermore,the current applications and future potential of functional sugars in food,health products,feed,and other industries are discussed.Finally,the paper outlines existing challenges and future research directions,aiming to provide a theoretical basis and technical references for promoting efficient and high-value utilization of sugarcane by-products.
