Spatial correlation of the across-wind fluctuating wind loads on rectangular high-rise buildings

Abstract
Wind tunnel tests were conducted on rectangular high-rise buildings with side ratios of 1/9-9 in four wind fields to investigate the effects of the side ratio and turbulent characteristics on the spatial correlation of the across-wind fluctuating wind loads on rectangular high-rise buildings.Based on the test results,the effects of the side ratio,turbulence intensity,and turbulence integral scale on the vertical correlation coefficient and coherence function of the across-wind fluctuating wind loads were explored.The mathematical model of the vertical correlation was obtained using the nonlinear least squares method.The results show that the correlation coefficient of the across-wind fluctuating wind load decreases exponentially with the increase in the separation distance,the attenua-tion rate increases first and then decreases with the increase of side ratio.The initial value of the across-wind fluc-tuating coherence function is related to the side ratio and separation distance of the building.The coherence func-tion is influenced by the change in the turbulence integral scale,but not by the turbulence intensity.The correla-tion coefficients and coherence functions of the across-wind fluctuating wind loads on rectangular high-rise buildings proposed in this study are in good agreement with the experimental results.This study provides a reference for structural design and revision of load codes.关键词
