Abstract

The combined fibers coalescence(CFC)for demulsification and oil removal is based on the principle that emulsified oil droplets experience different polar forces at the intersection of oleophilic and hydrophobic fibers.According to water quality parameters and operating conditions,oleophilic and hydrophobic fibers with material properties were interwoven into X-type and Ω-type structures,which were further stacked and assembled into modular units to achieve rapid physical demulsification and separation.The application of CFC technology for demulsification and oil removal in the treatment of produced water from offshore oil and gas fields was introduced.With a single-stage system,this technology could achieve the performance equivalent to conventional two-stage systems(e.g.,"inclined plate oil remover+induced gas floatator"or"hydrocyclone+gas flotation flash tank").It was superior to traditional technologies in terms of both area and space.Moreover,the CFC technology reduced the cost of the agent per ton of water treatment by 14%,the carbon emissions per ton of water treatment by 88.7%,and the investment cost and operation and maintenance cost per ton of water treatment by 11.1%and 16.6%respectively.
