Abstract

A combined process of iron-carbon micro-electrolysis(ICME)and electro-catalysis(EC)was designed for the treatment of actual pesticide production wastewater.The experimental results indicate that the optimal reaction conditions are as follows:influent pH of 3.0,iron-carbon filler dosage of 1.5 kg/L,aeration rate of 3 L/min,iron-carbon micro-electrolysis time of 10.0 h,voltage of 6 V,current of 3 A,current density of 0.22 A/cm2,and electrocatalytic oxidation time of 2.0 h.Under these conditions,the COD of the pesticide wastewater is reduced from an initial range of 19 700 mg/L to 3 800 mg/L,achieving a COD removal efficiency of 80.71%.The significant decrease in effluent COD demonstrates the effectiveness of the combined ICME and EC process,thereby providing favorable conditions for further advanced treatment.
