Abstract

The composition and origin of the Earth's Hadean continental crust are pivotal for understanding the accretion and evolution of the planet.In this study,we present trace-element data for the Hadean zircons discovered at the Muzidian region in the northern Dabie orogenic belt.Using experimentally determined partition coefficients between zircon and coexisting melt,we calculated the composition of the parental melts from which these zircons crystallized.The calculated melts exhibit SiO2 contents of 53.5-61.5 wt.%,with Th/Nb,Dy/Yb,and Th/Y ratios of 1.91-5.06,0.52-1.07,and 0.12-0.34,respectively.These geochemical signatures preclude their derivation from intraplate basalts,TTG(tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite)gneisses,impact-induced melts,or magmatisms associated with stagnant-lid tectonics.Instead,the calculated melts closely resemble modern basaltic andesites formed in subduction-related settings,indicating that mobile-lid tectonics may have been in operation at the earliest stages of Earth's history.
