Abstract

Lingshui County in Hainan Province experiences abundant rainfall with short-duration,and high-intensity.The gullies around the coastal Mengshuiling are well-developed,with steep longitudinal slopes and thick overlying layers,creating favorable conditions for debris flow development.This poses a serious threat to the Donghuan Railway,the Dongxian Expressway,the Xiangshuiwan Tourist Resort,and the marine environment below.Previous studies have primarily focused on the formation mechanisms and movement characteristics of debris flows in Mengshuiling,with limited research on the risk of debris flow occurrence.Based on an analysis of the conditions for debris flow formation in the Mengshuiling gullies,this study evaluates the debris flow risk in Gullies No.5 and No.6 of Mengshuiling using GIS technology and an information value model from the perspective of source material potential.The results indicate that Gully No.5 is largely located in a high-risk zone for geohazards,with high source material potential,a high likelihood of debris flow occurrence,and a high risk level.Gully No.6 is in a medium-risk zone for geohazards,with moderate source material potential,a moderate likelihood of debris flow occurrence,and a medium risk level.The evaluation results can provide technical references for local disaster prevention and mitigation efforts.
