摘要

Abstract

This paper reports,for the first time,the discovery of a new soybean pest,Resseliella soya(Monzen),in Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces of China.A random survey method was used to investi-gate field damage symptoms and infestation severity across multiple locations.The larvae of this pest primarily bore into soybean petioles and branches.As a result,the affected leaves wilt,droop,and eventually wither or die due to water loss.No significant differences were observed in the infestation rates among different soybean varieties.We described morphological characteristics of adults,larvae and pupae,and amplified the COⅠ(Cytochrome oxidase subunit Ⅰ)barcode sequence of this insect.Using 12 samples,including the newly identified species and its close relatives,a phylogenetic tree was constructed based on this sequence.The results of this study provide foundational information for the accurate identification and integrated management of this pest,thus contributing to develop-ment of effective control strategies in soybean production.
