Abstract

Objective:To compare the efficacy of digital registration method and conventional cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)in measuring implant placement accuracy.Methods:A total of 147 implants from 100 patients who were treated at Shenzhen Nanshan People's Hospital from June 2021 to June 2024 were analyzed.The comprehensive errors of implant placement were measured using two methods,including deviations in implant apex,apical point,long axis angle,as well as registration errors of transfer rods and dental arches.Cylindrical positive/negative deviations were also analyzed.Results:Digital registration showed that deviations of implant point,apical point and long axis angle were(1.02±0.59)mm,(1.19±0.87)mm,and(4.77±2.39)° respectively,while they were(0.94±0.50)mm,(1.17±0.77)mm,and(5.24±2.99)° respectively with CBCT.No statistically significant difference was found in 3D comprehensive errors(P>0.05).The mean differences in implant point,apical point and long axis angle between the two methods were(0.08±0.72)mm,(0.02±1.17)mm,and(0.48±3.60)° respectively.The registration deviations for the dental arch and transfer rod were(0.33±0.16)mm and(0.04±0.01)mm,respectively.The postoperative fit errors of the implant cylindrical structure were evaluated,with the mean negative and positive errors being(0.21±0.10)mm and(0.11±0.02)mm,respectively.For the simulated ideal site implant cylinder,the mean negative and positive fit errors were(0.17±0.05)mm and(0.09±0.02)mm,respectively.Conclusion:Digital registration method and conventional CBCT have comparable accuracy in implant placement measurement,both being clinically applicable.
