Abstract

In light of the prevailing challenges encountered in multi-gateway wireless medical sensor networks,this paper put forward a lightweight anonymous authentication protocol for such networks.The challenges under discussion include,but are not limited,high computational costs for cross-domain authentication,high communication costs,limited resources,and vulnerability of wireless medical sensors.The protocol employed the physical unclonable function(PUF)to facilitate secure authentication and key agreement between medical experts via the primary gateway,external gateway and wireless medical sensor nodes.Through the utilisation of the ROR Oracle model,the Proverif protocol analysis tool,and non-formal analysis,it demonstrated that this protocol achieves mutual authentication and session key agreement between medical specialists and wireless medical sensors,and was resistant to common attacks with good security properties.A comparison with the authentication protocols pro-posed in recent years shows that the proposed protocol has the lowest computational costs and outperforms other protocols by more than 11.79%.Furthermore,the comparison reveals that the proposed protocol exhibits more comprehensive security at-tributes and good lightweight characteristics,rendering it well-suited for resource-constrained wireless medical sensor networks.
