Abstract

As a classic transportation and tourism product,tourist trains serve not only as a means of transportation but also as destinations that generate tourist experiences,playing an indispensable role in the tourism industry.In order to deeply analyze the attractiveness composition of tourist trains and extract practical inspirations for the development of domestic tourist trains,three international classic luxury tourist trains,namely Rovos Rail,Venice-Simplon Orient Express,and the Ghan were selected as research subjects.Using ROST CM6 and NVivo 11 software,the study conducted high-frequency word analysis,semantic network construction,and content coding of tourist reviews on the Tripadvisor platform,systematically exploring the constituent logic and operational pathways of the attractiveness of tourist trains.Research findings indicate:①the attractiveness of tourist trains comprises 20 core elements,which can be categorized into eight major dimensions:hardware facilities,service operations,catering supply,route scenery,itinerary planning,customized offerings,experiential design,and scarcity strategies;②these elements form a stable three-tiered pyramid structure—foundational layer,value-added layer,and extension layer—creating a progressive value generation system that evolves from functional assurance to spiritual fulfillment;③bidirectional empowerment exists between tiers.The resulting pyramid model of the attractiveness of tourist trains provides clear theoretical reference and actionable advancement pathways for China's transportation-tourism integration products currently undergoing upgrading.
