摘要
Abstract
With growing attention to architectural heritage conservation, the role of architects in the intervention and reuse works has become in-creasingly significant. This article examines four of Peter Zumthor's(1943-)projects involving in-tervention and adaptive reuse of architectural her-itage to explore the balance between preservation and innovation. As although Zumthor's design phi-losophy and stylistic approach have been widely studied, his heritage-related practices remain un-derexamined.Through in-depth case studies of these four works,namely,(1)the Gugalun House in Versam,Switzerland,(2)the Kolumba Art Museum in Cologne,Germany,(3)the Protective Housing for Roman Archaeological Excavations in Chur,Switzerland,and(4)the'House of the Mo-saics'for Hisham's Palace in Jericho,Palestine, the article reveals that Zumthor's design exhibit a creative respect for heritage in terms of structure, materials, and spatial organisation, yet certain limitations emerge from insufficient preliminary assessment of the heritage sites. The findings sug-gest that architects should develop a deep under-standing of heritage values, while conservators should prioritise rigorous early-stage evaluation and planning.Effective communication between both parties is essential to achieving high-quality outcomes in architectural heritage conservation.关键词
