Abstract

To facilitate the energy utilization process of discarded biomass resources as a fuel substitute for pulverized coal(PC)in ironmaking,mango pit biochar(MPB)was prepared by pyrolysis and carbonization of mango pit(MP).The composition of MP,PC,and MPB was tested using proximate and ultimate analysis.The combustion of mango pit biochar,pulverized coal,and their mixed fuels was compared using thermogravimetric and thermogravimetric-infrared coupling techniques as well as injection combustion simulation experimental device.Furthermore,the optimal ratio of mango pit biochar for replacing pulverized coal was determined by calculating kinetic parameters.The results showed that the composition of mango pit biochar was close to pulverized coal,and the main combustion intervals of mango pit biochar and pulverized coal were 300-650 ℃ and 400-900 ℃,respectively,The combustion products of both raw materials were mainly CO2,CO,and H2O.Experiments in the high-temperature and high-speed blowing conditions of the reduced blast furnace showed that the burnout rate of mango pit biochar was significantly improved by 35%compared with pulverized coal.The results of combustion kinetics applying the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa model showed that the average activation energy of the mixed fuel combustion process was 56.74-64.78 kJ/mol,and the optimal addition ratio of mango pit biochar was 80%.
