Abstract
Objective To evaluate the differences in morphological parameters of bony nasolacrimal duct(BN-LDs)in patients with primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction(PANDO)(both affected and healthy sides)and con-trol subjects(control sides)used conical beam computed tomography(CBCT).Methods A retrospective case-control study. The seven parameters of bilateral BNLDs were retrospectively measured in 42 patients with unilateral BNLD(the case group)and 14 controls(the control group). The length, volume, minimum transverse diameter(TD),proximal, minimum and distal areas, relative angle of lacrimal sac-BNLD,angle between nasolacrimal duct and nasal floor plane(NLNF),and deviation of nasal septum were observed in both patients and controls. The 7 parameters of age, gender, the affected sides, the healthy sides and the control side were compared between the case group and the control group.Re-sults Compared with the control side, the length of BNLD on the affected sides and healthy sides was significantly ex-tended(all P<0.001,P<0.001),the angle of NLNF was significantly increased(all P<0.001,P<0.001,respec-tively),and the angle of lacrimal sac-BNLD was significantly decreased(P=0.02,P=0.01,respectively).There were no significant differences between the affected side and the healthy side(all P>0.05).There were no significant differences in other parameters between the affected sides, the healthy side and the control sides(all P>0.05).There were no signifi-cant differences in the indexes of PANDO patients between genders and ages(all P>0.05).Conclusions The shorter length of bilateral BNLD,the larger angle of NLNF and the smaller angle of lacrimal sac-BNLD in PANDO patients may be related to the occurrence of PANDO.There was a lack of difference between the affected and healthy sides of the case group, and some overlap in measured parameters between the case and healthy sides.Suggest that morphological altera-tions may be only one of the factors contributing to the development of PANDO.关键词
