Developing a Compatibility Model of Tree Biomass and Carbon Storage of Quercus mongolica in Northeast China

Abstract
[Objective]Improve the accuracy of biomass and carbon storage of Quercus mongolica in Northeast China and provide a theoretical basis for scientific management of Q.mongolica growth.[Meth-od]By collecting data on biomass of aboveground organs,DBH,and tree height from 175 Q.mongolica in-dividual trees in Heilongjiang,Jilin,Liaoning,and eastern Inner Mongolia(including above-ground bio-mass data from 122 trees and whole-tree biomass data from 53 trees),as well as published carbon con-tent data for Q.mongolica organs,independent univariate and bivariate models for above-ground and be-low-ground biomass and carbon storage of Q.mongolica were established.Nonlinear simultaneous equa-tions were used to establish compatible univariate and bivariate models for aboveground biomass and car-bon storage of individual organs in Q.mongolica ensuring additivity,and the aggregated model con-strained by the algebraic sum.Compatible models for below-ground biomass and carbon storage were es-tablished using the root-to-shoot ratio model.[Result]The R2adj of the aboveground organs and total aboveground biomass and carbon storage models ranged from 0.704 8 to 0.961 8,and the overall relative error(TRE)was less than±1%,and the mean prediction error(MPE)was less than 10%,which met the modeling criteria.The R2adj of the underground biomass model was between 0.770 2 and 0.780 1,with TRE less than 1%and MPE less than 15%,which met the modeling criteria.[Conclusion]The accuracy of all models established in this study met the modeling criteria.The aggregated carbon storage model showed slightly higher accuracy than the compatible organ models,and these models can provide refer-ences for biomass prediction of Q.mongolica individual trees in Northeast China.关键词
