Abstract

Objective To revise the Chinese version of Nursing Learning Self-efficacy(NLSE)and to test its reliability and validity.Methods Following Beaton's cross-cultural adaptation guidelines,the simplified Chinese version of NLSE was developed through ex-pert consultation using the Delphi method.A total of 778 nursing undergraduates from 10 nursing colleges in Henan and Guangdong provinces were recruited for the questionnaire survey to validate the reliability and validity of the scale.Results The final simplified Chinese version of NLSE consisted of 5 dimensions and 15 items.The overall Cronbach's α coefficient for the total scale was 0.960,and that for the five dimensions was 0.881,0.867,0.922,0.902 and 0.829,respectively.The split-half reliability was 0.918,and the test-re-test reliability 0.921.Both the scale-level content validity index(S-CVI)and the item-level content validity index(I-CVI)were 1.000.The criterion-related validity coefficient was 0.713(P<0.001).Exploratory factor analysis extracted five common factors,accounting for 81.922%of the total variance.Confirmatory factor analysis indicated good model fit.Conclusion The simplified Chinese version of NLSE demonstrates good reliability and validity.It can be used as an effective instrument for assessing nursing learning self-efficacy among nursing students in the Chinese mainland.
