Moderation and mediation effect of disease perception and family support between participation in treat-ment decision-making and nutrition literacy among patients with gastrointestinal tumor

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of participation in treatment decision-making on nutritional literacy in patients with gastrointestinal tumor,the mediating role of disease perception and the moderating role of family support.Methods A total of 256 pa-tients with gastrointestinal tumor were investigated with Cancer Patient Participation in Treatment Decision-making Questionnaire,Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire,Family Support Self-rating Scale and Adult Nutrition Literacy Scale.The moderated mediation model was constructed and tested.Results The total scores of nutrition literacy,participation in treatment decision-making,illness perception and family support of patients with gastrointestinal tumor were 149.92±17.93,23.59±5.36,37.73±12.54 and 9.30±2.36,re-spectively.Participation in treatment decision-making had a positive effect on nutrition literacy,and illness perception played a mediat-ing role between participation in treatment decision-making and nutrition literacy,accounting for 58.24%of the total effect.Family sup-port moderated the effect path of participation in treatment decision-making on illness perception(β=0.104,P<0.01).Conclusion The mediating and moderating effect of disease perception and family support on the participation in treatment decision-making and nutri-tional literacy of patients with gastrointestinal tumor is established.Measures should be taken to improve the enthusiasm of patients to participate in treatment decision-making,strengthen family support,and promote positive disease perception of patients,so as to im-prove the level of nutritional literacy.关键词
