Design and Test of Drum Seed Metering Device for Drill Seeding of Rice Blanket Seedlings

Abstract
In order to meet the agronomic requirement of different sowing quantities of hybrid rice and conventional rice during the seedling raising,a mechanical drum seed metering device was designed,which can achieve adjustment of the sowing quantity by replacing drums with different hole depths.The drum holes were designed based on the theoretical analysis of the seed-filling posture of rice,and a study was conducted on influences of hole arrangement,hole depth,seed-dropping height,and productivity on the seed-filling and seed-dropping performance of the seed metering device.Simulation tests were conducted with the hybrid rice"Huaxiangyou 228"and the conventional rice"Huanghuazhan"as the research objects.The simulation results indicated that the optimal seed-filling effect was achieved when the drum holes were axially arranged in 18 rows with depths of 2.5 mm(for hybrid rice)and 4.5 mm(for conventional rice);the coefficient of variation of sowing quantity consistency of drill seeding was increased as the seed-dropping height rose.Full-factorial bench tests with three factors and three levels was conducted,taking the qualified rate of the sowing uniformity for blanket seedlings and the coefficient of variation of sowing quantity consistency of drill seeding as the performance evaluation indexes,to study the influences of the hole depth,productivity,and seed-dropping height on the working performance of the seed metering device.A regression model for performance evaluation indices was established,the optimized results were obtained,which were subsequently verified through the bench tests.The verification results showed that:for hybrid rice"Huaxiangyou 228",when the hole depth was 3.0 mm,the productivity was 591.0 trays per hour,and the seed-dropping height was 42.4 mm,the qualified rate and the coefficient of variation were 88.6%and 14.9%,respectively;for conventional rice"Huanghuazhan",when the hole depth was 4.5 mm,the productivity was 500.0 trays per hour,and the seed-dropping height was 57.4 mm,the qualified rate and the coefficient of variation were 89.8%and 10.2%,respectively.Sowing quantity measurement test was carried out:under the optimized response parameters,the sowing quantities of long-grained hybrid rice"Huaxiangyou 228"and conventional rice"Huanghuazhan"were 40.6 g per tray and 73.9 g per tray,respectively;when the hole depth was 2.0 mm and 4.0 mm,the sowing quantities of short-grained hybrid rice"Yongyou 538"and conventional rice"Nanjing 9108"were 44.2 g per tray and 78.8 g per tray,respectively.The seeding results met the agronomic requirement of sowing of seedling raising for conventional rice and hybrid rice.关键词
