Overview of International Nomenclature Systems Related to Pesticide Active Ingredients

Abstract
This paper systematically reviews the international nomenclature systems for pesticide active ingredients and related industries,covering the International Organization for Standardization(ISO)common name system,the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients(INCI)system,the World Health Organization's International Nonproprietary Names(WHO INN)system,and the international nomenclature system for microbial pesticides.The study finds that while these naming systems differ in their scopes of application and rule-making principles,they are also complementary.The ISO common name system,as the core standard for naming chemical pesticides,does not cover microbial pesticides and has certain limitations in naming complex components such as plant-derived pesticide mixtures with uncertain ingredient ratios and novel biopesticides like RNA interference(RNAi)products.The INCI system provides a valuable supplement for naming plant-derived ingredients.The WHO INN system offers useful experience in naming nucleic acid-based drugs,which provides important reference experience in the standardization of RNAi pesticide nomenclature.Microbial pesticides,on the other hand,strictly follow international microbial nomenclature rules.Based on a comparative analysis of international practices,the paper suggests that China should develop a more forward-looking pesticide nomenclature system,with a focus on improving the naming standards for novel biopesticides to enhance pesticide regulation and promote international mutual recognition.关键词
