Effect of low-pressure sprinkler irrigation on regulating dry-hot wind and winter wheat growth response

Abstract
In order to solve the serious impact of increasing frequency of dry-hot wind disaster on win-ter wheat growth and yield in North China Plain,field experiment was conducted by setting up low-pressure sprinkler irrigation(LS)and no irrigation(CK)treatment during the filling period of winter wheat,and the regulatory effect of low-pressure sprinkler irrigation on dry-hot wind was studied,for which the CK mode was used as the control.The experimental results show that LS can effectively im-prove the farmland microclimate under dry-hot wind conditions,especially during the irrigation period.Sprinkler irrigation with 2 mm of water can reduce the canopy temperature of winter wheat by 4.0-10.0℃,the air temperature at 80 cm above the canopy can drop by 2.0-4.0 ℃,and the relative hu-midity of the air increase by 6%-11%,for which the effect of a sprinkler irrigation on the microclimate lasts for about 1 h.After low-pressure sprinkler irrigation,the net photosynthetic rate(Pn),transpira-tion rate(Tr)and stomatal conductance(Gs)of winter wheat increase by 95%-201%,54%-104%and 70%-97%,respectively,and the intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci)decreases by about 4%-14%compared to CK.LS treatment can increase the grain weight by about 2.4 mg,and the 1 000-grain weight by about 2.7%during grain filling.The results of this study provide technical and data support for alleviating the effects of dry-hot wind on winter wheat in North China.关键词
