Analysis of Codon Usage Bias Patterns in Mollusks
摘要
Abstract
Mollusks hold significant importance in the fields of biology, evolutionary science, and ecology. The research aims to explore the genetic traits and adaptive strategies during their evolutionary processes to infer their evolutionary dynamics. This study systematically collected recently published reference genome sequences of 41 mollusk species to explore the evolutionary dynamics of codon usage preferences across four major classes:Cephalopoda,Gastropoda,Bivalvia, and Aplacophora. The re-sults indicate that most mollusks exhibit a weak preference for certain codons, which is hierarchically stratified by taxonomic classes.Bivalvia and Cephalopoda tend to use A/T-ending codons, whereas Gas-tropoda and Aplacophora prefer G/C-ending codons. The evolutionary dynamics analysis suggests that molluscan codon usage patterns are shaped by both neutral evolution and natural selection, with the ex-tent of selection's influence varying among classes.Gastropods are more influenced by selection than Bi-valvia,Cephalopoda,and Aplacophora, with selective pressures concentrated on three codons that en-code arginine. This comprehensive mapping of codon preference in mollusks provides profound insights into the genomic evolution of this diverse and evolutionarily significant group of animals.关键词
