Effects of Plant Growth Regulators on the Growth Indices and Endogenous Hormones of Spatholobus suberectus Cutting Seedlings

Abstract
To identify appropriate plant growth regulator treatments for Spatholobus suberectus cutting propagation while enhancing seedling production quality,and to reveal the inherent rooting mechanism of this species.Five-to six-year-old wild cultivated woody branches of S.suberectus were treated with two different plant growth regulators—ABT1 rooting powder(ABT1)and"Shuangjier"GGR No.6 rooting powder(GGR6)—at varying concentrations(50,100,or 150 mg·L-1),alongside water as a control.The levels of endogenous hormones in the roots,stems,and leaves of S.suberectus were quantified after 50 days of growth.The results showed that there were very significant differences in rooting indices and endogenous hormone contents(p<0.01)among the types,concentrations,and their interactions of rooting agents.The treatment with 100 mg·L-1 ABT1,with an underground biomass of cuttings 0.28 g,a root surface area of 41.11 cm2,and a root volume of 0.97 cm3,achieved the highest rankings in both membership function analysis and principal component analysis.In the 100 mg·L-1 GGR6 treatment,the aboveground biomass of the cuttings was 1.23 g,the seedling height was 17.1 cm,and the ground diame-ter was 3.33 mm,which were significantly higher than those in the other treatments.The zeatin riboside(ZR),gibberellic acid(GA3),indole-3-acetic acid(IAA),abscisic acid(ABA),ZR/IAA,ABA/IAA,and GA3/IAA ratios in the ABT1 100 mg·L-1 group were significantly lower than those in the control group(p<0.05).The GA3,ABA,and GA3/IAA were negatively corre-lated with rooting indexes.Under the experimental conditions,100 mg·L-1 ABT1 was suitable for promoting the root growth of the seedlings,and 100 mg·L-1 GGR6 promoted the growth of the aboveground parts of the seedlings.Plant growth regulators have the ability to modulate the levels of endogenous hormones.A lower endogenous hormone content and ratio are more conducive to strengthening roots and cultivating high-quality S.suberectus cuttings.关键词
